Word 2003 Mail merge, How to eliminate blank lines

I'm trying to do a mail merge where some people have a middle name and some do not. It is important if the middle name is available to print it but when I do a mail merge in word 2003 and there is no middle name available it prints a blank space which looks funny.

How can one get around that?
