Well it's possible that the dvd write laser is messed up.... when several programs don't recognize it that's what it suggests to me... you did however say something about a firmware update.... if you haven't been able to write dvd's since then, maybe you need to put the old firmware back.... as an FYI never update firmware or bios unless you find that your device doesn't do something that the new bios/firmware is suppose to support....

Thanks for all your assistance. There's no need to be defensive or rude. You posted this just under eight hours after requesting help. Keep in mind, this site has over 200,000 members, and over 1 million posts. Now, take a look at the number of Staff members we have... all of whom volunteer their time. We do our level best to get to everyone as quickly as possible, although unfortunately it takes a bit of time sometimes. Please be patient when requesting help. Now... I am editing and closing this topic. What you're asking help for is not legal in the US, where GeeskToGo is located. Therefore, we cannot help you with this issue. QUOTE Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) states that it's illegal to break the CSS copy-protection mechanism employed by most commercial DVD movies.
