I'm using a netgear WGR614 v7 with firmware fully up to date. I have the pc and xbox 360 both plugged into the same router. I use to use a Linxsys router and both pc and xbox 360 coul talk. I had to replace my router and went to netgear since my linxsys died. Now I'm not sure if the xbox 360 or the PC is looking for the old IP address from the linxsys or is there something I need to remove please help if you can.

Thanks

http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/Xbox-360-ca...PC-t162067.html

there are alot of suggestions in that topic.

i also have a netgear 614 router... i logged in and went to the 'uPNP' section and changed the number of hops (TTL) from 4 up to 20, and i havent had any problems since... make sure that sharing is enabled and all ports that are needed are open and available though. its a tough problem to have as you can see by all the topics that have been posted on this issue. Good Luck.

edit: im not sure if it matters with XP or not, but with Vista and Windows Media Player 11, you have to be on a private network.

Tried that still no luck see. What doesn't make sense to me when I go into my media player 11. It seems the xbox 360 no problem and will let me say share with but when my 360 looks for the pc. It is telling me no router and I have looked over my outer and can't find a port or anything that I haven't opened yet that the 360 says needs to be open. Any other thoughts.

what do you mean it "is telling me no router"?

are your network settings on the 360 set to automatic? have you checked all of your firewall settings, including what may be running on the router?
