Xbox 360 on Laptop monitor through VGA

First of all, I'd like to apologise if this is the wrong section to post in. I'm just wondering if it's possible to play my 360 onto my laptop monitor using a VGA cable? My laptop has the VGA slot, and since the cable boasted pc connectivity on the packaging, I assumed it could work. However, I plug the cable in, and absolutely nothing happens. Do I need to do anything else in order to get the screen working? Or am I just being a fool, and it's not going to work?

Many thanks for your help.
