Just one question while I analyse your log turfguy.
Have you tried uninstalling Firefox, downloading it again from the Firefox site and reinstalling. Just on the off chance that you got a corrupted update. The link below takes you to mozilla where you can download Firefox. Be sure to uninstall your old version first though. http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ |

Hello turfguy,
Have had a look and can't see much. How did you get on re-installing Firefox? Meantime your Java is out of date, older versions are vunerable to attack. Please download JavaRa to your desktop and unzip it to its own folder
Your Adobe Acrobat Reader is out of date. Older versions are vunerable to attack. Please go to the link below to update. http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html Now Please download Runscanner to your desktop and run it.

Hi,
thank you for replying. It has taken me a long time because I don't have broadband. I have not uninstalled Firefox yet because my son (freshman in engineering at michigan state u) says he has some important bookmarks in firefox and I don't know how to save them for him. I have completed everything else on your instruction list. I noticed yesterday that I am no longer getting the little Spybot popups reporting "malicious" sources like Tagasaurus and Adrevolver, so something is working. My runscanner .run file is attached. I look forward to your analysis and thanks again for what you're doing for us. Turfguy

QUOTE I have not uninstalled Firefox yet because my son (freshman in engineering at michigan state u) says he has some important bookmarks in firefox and I don't know how to save them for him. I think you will find that even if you uninstall Firefox your bookmarks will not be lost. The new installation should pick up the old ones. However to make sure, you can go to History (up near the top) and open Show all History in the list that appears. Once open there should be a option at the top to Import and Backup. Click on that and there will show in the list an option to Export HTML. Click on that and save to a location of your choice. This will save your bookmarks. Please note I have used my version of Firefox to put together these instructions. My version is a beta version and you may find that in your version that the actions required are slightly different. Meantime I am having a look at the .run file and will get back to you. |

Hello turfguy,
In this post we will provide you with a .run file fix and run a Kaspersky on line scan. This scan takes a long time when you are on broadband so don't be surprised if it takes a very long time on dial up. Download the attachment at the end of this post (this will be your runscanner file fixed by me)
Next Kaspersky only works if you are using Internet Explorer. Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner. Click on the Kaspersky Online Scanner button. A box will come up, click Accept, this will allow it to install an ActiveX component and download its latest anti-virus database. (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
Copy and paste that information in your next post.
