I have Firefox and I have a problem because all my files ( Music, movies, deleted airmails etc) tend to be listed alphabetically rather than date-order. I have gone into "Options" but can't find where to change this. Help please.

Try going to Bookmarks>Organize Bookmarks. Then select View and make your selection on how sorted.

Thanks but the problem is not with my bookmarks. It happens in My Videos in My Docs, and with my deleted emails.

Then set Folder Options to sort by date from the View menu of Explorer's open window: Keep Your Data Folders in Date Order Automatically

Hope that's what you want to do.

Not talking about Internet Explorer. There's Internet Explorer, a browser, then there's Explorer, Windows' file viewer.

I am thinking that everyone is getting mixed signals because of the fact that bazza said "I use Firefox" which may or may not be related to the problem at hand...

Hopefully this is what you want to do:

    Go to Explorer
  • Right click on start menu button
  • Select "Explore"

You will have to do these steps for each folder:

Navigate to the folder that contains the files you would like to change from alphabetical to chronological order

Right click on the background of the open folder

Go down to "Arrange Icons By"

    Then select "Modified"

I hope that is along the lines of what you want to do...

@piano9playa5: I understood his problem as NOT being browser related, but that his files were not set in order he wanted whenever Explorer (NOT IE) was called. This then is a Folder Option setting and the links I gave are the information to set a new Default setting for all folders.

OK. I wonder if he ever solved his problem... He hasn't posted on this thread since October 7.
