OS: Windows XP

The backlight on my old IBM thinkpad was dying so I backed up all my work using the backup utility on Windows XP and saved it to a CD. The backlight finally died and I purchased a new HP laptop with Windows Vista.

I was hoping to be able to bring my old files over to my new laptop but when I tried to run the CD I get a message saying that the backup utility has not been installed.

Is there a relatively simple way to do this?

Unfortunately I can't even get back on to my old laptop to just copy the files the old fashioned way.
