Until today, if I held my cursor over a link in Internet Explorer, the URL would show in the bar at the bottom of the monitor. It has stopped doing that, and it's surprisingly irritating because I end up revisiting sites unnecessarily. Can anyone tell me how to restore it. I've tried restore defaults and it makes no difference. Thanks, Zim

Let us take a closer look at what is running on your PC. We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool (HiJackThis) and post a log back here with the results.

Click the HijackThis Guide in my signature, download it and follow the instructions in the guide.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.

I don't see anything desperately wrong with your log. Let's fix any missing or damaged critical Windows files. Put your Windows XP CD in your drive and:

1. Go to "Start", then "Run"
2. Type in "sfc.exe /scannow" and press enter
3. Wait for it to finish then reboot
4. See if the problem's gone wink.gif
