tangerine3,
Welcome to Geeks to Go. Please go back to the instructions and follow the directions to post a hijackthis log - don't worry about running cwshredder at this point. Once you've posted a log, we can see what issues you may have and help you get cleaned up. Thanks, sari |

tangerine3,
You may want to print these instructions for reference. Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below. R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...//www.yahoo.com R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...rch/search.html R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...//www.yahoo.com R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/...//www.yahoo.com O2 - BHO: BMG3.LongTooth - {8110581C-FEA4-47AC-ADBC-DE958DD0F354} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\{8110581C-FEA4-47AC-ADBC-DE958DD0F354}.dll O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {0494D0D9-F8E0-41ad-92A3-14154ECE70AC} - (no file) O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {14C2A2E2-9DAE-78C0-692F-EE6FE466EFD9} - (no file) O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [6F6E727170767576] EAE9EDECEBF1F0.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [CAS2] "C:\Program Files\System Files\System.exe" O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [EQArticle] "C:\Program Files\EQArticle\EQArticle.exe" O18 - Filter: text/html - (no CLSID) - (no file) O20 - AppInit_DLLs: khhhkfkp.dll,Runner.dll O23 - Service: Windows Overlay Components - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\kybvntu.exe (file missing) Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Reboot into safe mode (if you can - I know you've been having trouble with this). Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode. Let's make sure you can see hidden files/folders: * Click Start. * Open My Computer. * Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options. * Select the View Tab. * Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders. * Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option. * Click Yes to confirm. * Click OK. Please delete these folders using Windows Explorer(if present): C:\Program Files\EQArticle Please delete these files using Windows Explorer(if present): C:\WINDOWS\system32\{8110581C-FEA4-47AC-ADBC-DE958DD0F354}.dll C:\Program Files\System Files\System.exe EAE9EDECEBF1F0.exe khhhkfkp.dll Runner.dll You'll have to search for these last 3 files in order to find them. After that, Reboot. Please go HERE to run Panda's ActiveScan
Please post back with a new hijackthis log and the Activescan log. Thanks, sari |

tangerine3,
Please download the Killbox by Option^Explicit. Note: In the event you already have Killbox, this is a new version that I need you to download.
If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually. If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run Killbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try Killbox again. Let me see one last log to make sure everything is still clean, then I'll post some prevention advice for you. Thanks, sari |

tangerine3,
It's looking good, except for one thing. Please re-open hijackthis and scan. Place a checkmark next to this item: O15 - Trusted Zone: http://awbeta.net-nucleus.com (HKLM) Making sure all other windows are closed, please click on Fix Checked. Please post one last log for review, and let me know how things are going. Thanks, sari |

tangerine3, Your installer shouldn't be popping up - I hope that was just a one-time thing. Your log is clean now - I'm glad everything is running better. Here are some tips to reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future. I strongly recommend installing the following applications: Detect and Remove Programs:
So how did I get infected in the first place? and Spyware Aid's |
