websites fine (such as google.com) but I need to connect to my gmail website (gmail.google.com). At the very time after cleaning up all the cookies, passwords, temp files etc, I get the dialogue box that it is going to unsecured to secured website but then get Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage. BTW, I am using IE 7 (128-bit strength) and XP SP2. I have disabled the firewall (McAfee Security Center and Xp) and Norton's Internet Security Service, Proxy Service and Accounts Manager has been disabled from starting) from best I can tell, but no go. I do suspect that somehow the firewall rules are in effect, but how and why? malware? or some program supposed to detect/remove malware? On IE7, I tried lowering the security settings Internet to medium (lowest possible) and even added https://mail.google.com to trusted sites and nothing is in the restricted site. Privacy Settings is set to LOW. SSL certificates have been cleared, so it the autocomplete (forms, username/password unchecked and cleared). SSL 2.0 and SSL 3.0 are enabled and have rebooted just to be sure. Network Diagnostics for XP indicate that Windows cannot connect to Internet using HTTP, HTTPS or FTP. Thsi is probably caused by firewall settings on this computer. Check firewall settings for HTTP port 80, HTTPS port 443 and FTP port 21. How do I verify this? I know http port works. Please help me as I need to access mail accounts. Hi SSguru!
Try this simple suggestion: Reset Internet Explorer. In Internet Explorer 7 click tools -> Internet Options --> Click on the Advanced Tab ---> At the bottom click "Reset" ---->Click Reset again, and follow the instructions it gives you. If that doesn't help please refer here: http://www.duxcw.com/faq/win/xp/secure.htm I hope this helps, Cam This post has been edited by CamTheMan: Apr 19 2008, 03:30 PM |
