computer crashed... again

ok.. well, right now im on my sisters computer. On my pc my computer froze and then all these end program popups came and closed all of my running programs and then shut off my computer ,i turned it back on and it came to a black screen that says

windows did not shut off properly ect..
and then it gives me the option of going to safe mode, last working configuration or run windows normaly.
if i click any one of those it load and then takes me to the windows Xp loading screen , a couple of seconds in the computer re-starts it self and the same thing happpend.

and one more thing Before the black screen comes up it shows the logo or INTEL hp and under it gives me these options.

<F1 SYSTEM HELP> <F10 SYSTEM RESTORE>

anyone know what i can do?

Start the System Restore Utility at a command prompt

1. Restart your computer, and keep tapping F8 during the initial start-up until you get options, select Safe Mode with a Command Prompt then press enter.

2. Log on to your computer with an administrator account or with an account that has administrator credentials.

3. Type the following command at a command prompt, and then press ENTER:

%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

4. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to restore your computer to an earlier state.

Look for the most recent system checkpoint created before the errors to restore from

For additional information about the Safe mode with a command prompt, click 315222 to see a description of the Safe Mode Boot Options in Windows XP

ok, i clicked safe mode with command prompt but then it gives me another 2 options windows Xp home edition or windows recovery console, i tried the first one and it crashed during the load?

no , XP came with my computer.. but at the beginign there somthing that says <F10 for system recovery>??

You need to avoid that because it will likely restore to day one condition

XP and whatever programmes were installed then only

Any you have added and most probably the data will go

so theres no way of saving my computer because i have relly important files on it. should i take it to a profesional?

Ask HP what system recovery will do, make sure you explain you have data you need

Can you borrow an XP CD which is the same version you have installed

You can repair install XP

You can use this guide to repair XP

Possibly, you will need to press the start button and keep tapping the delete key, (possibly F2) until the PC enters set up. Change the boot order to CD ROM Drive then hard drive, press F10 then press enter, load the XP CD then type Y then press enter, as it reboots, look for press any key to load from CD, press enter

You will need your XP product key to complete this

If you have audio / video files which are subject to DRM you should check with the provider for known issues with performing an XP repair install

XP Repair Install

Windows XP repair feature won't delete your data, installed programs, personal information, or settings. It just repairs the operating system

After running XP Repair you will need to install all Windows Updates
