configure vista to best performance while playing games?

OS: Microsoft Vista Home Basic



is it possible to configure vista to best performance grapical setting while playing games? by ither using 3rd party programs or somthing similar, i noticed i get a better frame rate in my games while i run it on best performance, but its a major pain in the [bleep] to swap it back and forth when ever i want to play a game, cos who needs fancy graphics on the taskbar ect while were playing games? lol

Simple solution: Right click the shortcut to the game. Goto the properties. Click onto the compatability tab. Disable Desktop Compositioning. This should work to some extent.
