I'm building a computer for a friend for $500. He uses it for mostly battlefield 2, 2142, and a few others.

Good luck with this. My Q6600-XFX 610i build cost more than $500 and i would not even consider it a gaming computer.

Yeah, battlefield 2 is a 2005 game and doesn't take a screaming machine. I am just going to see what I can do for $500 and I'll post my list here to see if anyone has a better idea about what parts to chose.

Hi there,

If you're looking for a tower only (no monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, or OS), then it can be done. If you are needing any of these components as well, then it's going to be cut real tight!

Here's my example, copied from the Newegg wishlist I made:

COOLER MASTER Elite 330 RC-330-KKN1-GP Black SECC ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail

$44.99

ASRock ALiveNF6P-VSTA AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE / nForce 430 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

$49.99

XFX PVT96GYDF4 GeForce 9600 GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card

$139.99

OCZ StealthXStream OCZ600SXS 600W ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply

$84.99

AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ Brisbane 2.7GHz Socket AM2 65W Dual-Core Processor Model ADO5200DOBOX

$77.00

SUPER TALENT 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model T800UX2GC5

$37.99

HITACHI Deskstar 7K160 HDS721616PLA380 (0Y30006) 160GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive

$41.99

LITE-ON 20X DVD±R DVD Burner Black SATA Model iHAS120-04
