Thanks again, all is working great on first computer. i did have a drive image backup of second computer, so i was able to recover from my disaster of using spybot that deleted something that killed my windows 98se on second computer. here is what my hijackthis looks like on second computer. is there stuff to delete?
or spyware that needs to be cleaned up?

You have the latest version of VX2. Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

jonnie, i tried to perform the scan of computer with 12mfix.exe and got this notepad text:

Not compatible with 9x or windows nt

Hello. I am still waiting to find out about the VX2 removal for Windows 98 tool or procedure, but in the meantime follow these steps.

Please run a free online virus scan here: Needs to be run with Internet Explorer.

Reboot your PC.

Ok, sounds like we can just use Hijack This for Win98, so lets try it out.

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure.
Please save Hijack This in a permanent folder (i.e. C:\HJT). This ensures backups are saved and accessible.

Please reboot into safe mode (continually tap the F8 key while your system is starting, select Safe Mode from the menu).
Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files in bold (if found):

C:\PROGRA~1\TOOLBAR
C:\PROGRAM FILES\MYWAY
C:\Program Files\QuickSearch
C:\PROGRAM FILES\SIDEFIND
C:\PROGRAM FILES\WINDOWS TASKAD
C:\PROGRAM FILES\WEB_REBATES

Reboot normally and post a new log.

thank you very much for the exceptional help and details of your answer. I ran http://www.pandasoft...n_principal.htm

and started but did not finish "The Cleaner" http://www.moosoft.com/ due to length of test and my fears because spybot killed to much stuf and completely crashed my computer. I like your solution. Also, I will be going for back surgery now and i'm fighting an infection so my answer with the hijack log will be delayed. Thanks again for the great help!. :tazz:
