1. Make sure your PC is set to show all hidden files and folders go here for instructions on how to do this. http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html
2. Boot into safemode to do this keep tapping F8 on your keyboard while your PC is starting up you will get a menu select safemode. 3. While in safemode open Hijackthis and click scan. Then tick and fix the following in Hijackthis with all windows closed except Hijackthis. R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://rd.yahoo.com/customize/sbcydsl/defa...hoo.sbc.com/dsl O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [scvhost.exe] scvhost.exe O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [soundtask] soundtask.exe O8 - Extra context menu item: Shorten URL - http://www.cjb.net/menuext.html O16 - DPF: {B942A249-D1E7-4C11-98AE-FCB76B08747F} (RealArcadeRdxIE Class) - http://games-dl.real.com/gameconsole/Bundl...ArcadeRdxIE.cab 4. Delete the files. (if present) These files might either be found in C:\ C:\Windows or C:\Windows\System32 if found delete. scvhost.exe soundtask.exe 5. Reboot and post a new Hijackthis log here in a reply. |

okay did all that, but svchost.exe will not let me delete it, i get the "access denied be sure the file is not full or write protected" also, while in my C:\Windows folder in safe mode, i noticed the \etb folder which had elite bar stuff in it, i deleted it all out including the folder. the soundtask.exe file could not be found.
here's my new HijackThis log Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 6:54:20 PM, on 8/9/2005 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccProxy.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSetMgr.exe C:\Program Files\Norton Internet Security\ISSVC.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SNDSrvc.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SPBBC\SPBBCSvc.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccEvtMgr.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\crypserv.exe C:\Program Files\ewido\security suite\ewidoctrl.exe C:\Program Files\ewido\security suite\ewidoguard.exe C:\Program Files\Norton Internet Security\Norton AntiVirus\navapsvc.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\CCPD-LC\symlcsvc.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe C:\Program Files\Microsoft IntelliPoint\point32.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe C:\Documents and Settings\lcozart1\Desktop\HijackThis.exe R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://www.dell.com R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = 127.0.0.1 O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Advanced Tools Check] C:\PROGRA~1\NORTON~1\AdvTools\ADVCHK.EXE O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ccApp] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Symantec NetDriver Monitor] C:\PROGRA~1\SYMNET~1\SNDMon.exe /Consumer O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IntelliPoint] "C:\Program Files\Microsoft IntelliPoint\point32.exe" O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background O4 - Global Startup: Quicken Scheduled Updates.lnk = C:\Program Files\Quicken\bagent.exe O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\msjava.dll O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Sun Java Console - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\msjava.dll O9 - Extra button: Yahoo!
