Whenever I try to run a .exe file i get a message that says "Choose the program you want to use to open this file" and lists the programs it can run.

I'm not sure if it matters but I use an Asus Eee Netbook with XP.

I don't understand a lot of computer terms so please dumb it down for me.

Go to this link, download the fix to .EXE file association, follow the instructions and install the patch.

Is this a privately owned computer? Do your account have administrator aouthorization?

Please boot the computer in Safe Mode. Log into the account called Administrator. Try to install the fix now.

I suggest that you start a new topic in the Malware Removal and Spyware Removal area.

Before you start a new topic click on this link --> Malware and Spyware Cleaning Guide, Please read before starting a new topic. This will give you a few preparations to make, as well as instruction for posting your OTListIt2 log.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).

Usually this is done by clicking the f8 key as soon as you start the computer.

This may be a problem, since he can't run any .exe file.

I'm going to give Broni some backup here and say this is a malware issue, considering he can't use the registry editor either.

I suggest you follow Broni's Instructions to post in the malware forum.
Just post saying you can't run any exe files, They will know what to do.

Regards,
Olrik
