explorer not loading HELP!

OS: windows xp
Hi Guys everytime i boot my pc explorer will not load properly. all i get is a single window open at my documents. I have to go to task manager new task and type in explorer for my taskbar start menu and desktop to start. Can someone please help me resolve this issue
