I got new internet today and when installed it didnt work. The technician said I needed a new Ethernet network card. I installed the software and the card. The light is on and my computer says I AM CONNECTED but nothing works.. I try to repair the connection and it says

Failed to query TCP/IP settings on the connections

Under connection status
I have no address type or IP address

When I type CMD and put in the Ipconfig /all it says

Windows IP configurations

c:/Documents and settings/aj>

I cannot figure this out. Its a brand new card and I have installed the driver.. Can anyone help me out please

I found this HOW TO online but I do not know how to find the winroot file I got passed step one can anyone explain that better?

Were you on a dial-up Phone Modem before you switched to a cable or telephone network? Did you delete the phone connection in your "Control Panel""network and Internet connections" ?

How to disable auto dialup in XP.

A network connection in XP should automatically connect to the internet if your ISP has talked you thru the setup for your name and password.

Your ISP should walk you thru your computer's "internet connection" very similar to what this website shows.

yes it looks like I am missing my driver for my dial up modem if that has anything to do with it. I found my modem type by reading the FCC id number

2D7USA-35107-M5-E DSP1648 Model 90109 (Cheetah/Matterhorn), Lucent 1648T00 (Mars-3) chipset PCI

Where can I get a driver for this? NOTHING i have tried has fixed this! plz help

You will need to join the drivers guide website to get these drivers for your modem. it is free to join.

go to the bottom of the page after joining and click a dot in "view a bunch of ads" to get the drivers zip file. Download it and remember where you downloaded it and then double click on the downloaded file and extract it. then run the exe file to install the drivers.

Same exact symptoms on a machine with a new XP Home install. What does the dial-up modem have to do with connecting through a high-speed router?
