first time builder using it for gaming and casual

Memory: I want enough to play games and function really well any suggestions price does matter to but I'd spend good money for decent RAM

Ditch the case/PSU combo right off the bat, the PSUs 90% of the time are rubbish unless the company also make good PSUs(Antec, Coolermaster, Akasa) and even the ones with a good PSU rep rarely package them together so always buy seperate. And never cheap out on the PSU it isn't worth it as if something goes wrong with it bad things happen.

CPU is good just got one myself, I would go with an Intel motherboard probably a P45 or maybe P35 if you need cheap the Nvidia boards are more expensive for what you get. I would ditch the 8800GT its great and I have one myself but its old tech get one of the new ATI cards which at the moment are the best in that price range or maybe one of the newer Nvidias if you are brand obsessed.

HDD you should get the 7200.11 they are newer and if you shop around they can be gotten for the same price or less as the older v10 drives. I just get the cheapest DVD-RW at the time, usually samsungs for me and to be honest they usually have more features than other drives irrelevant of price and they are in my experience reliable.
