ok some new thing has just come up: stop c0000135 (cannot find the component)
error in the star of the aplication becuase it cannot find kernel.dll. the reinstallation can solve this problem. when i tried the page from microsoft to install kernel it didnt work! at least its giving me a bit more info now |

You are probably looking at step 6 and beyond from the link in post 16, which also has options if windows does not show the repair option

ok have gone through the instructions from the page you posted and am currently in the middle of chkdsk /r but its has got to 28% complete and is just sitting there! hmmm. really not sure where to go now!

Check Disk does hang, even shows lower % - probably a make you feel good feature
Leave it for a good while as any reboot will just set it to the start of check disk |

just finished the chkdsk /r and restaryed the computer but with no sucsses, bak to the blue window sayying that kernel32.dll is missing.

just got in from work! i used d as that is where the cd for windows is, should i have done in c rather than d as c being the main hard drive? cheers

Unfortunately not, am wondering why it said the parameters were wrong
possibly worth trying again to check it is Expand(space)d:\i386\kernel32.dl_ dl with the underscore_ not dll |

ive typed cd system32, next ren kernel32.dll kernel32.old then says that this archive cannot be found and i cant go any further. bloody computers.

i typed comma here but when typing in the command no comma
ive printed a page off from microsoft to type in the commands but no joy. thanks again keith for your help and goodnight, if anyone else is about that would be great. |

I don't think replacing the kernel32.dll is going to resolve your problem. That being said, I do think there is a very good possibility that we can run a repair install on the machine. It will have to be done differently than the guides suggest, but I've done a number of these successfully. We'll have to go a little further into the Setup than you did last time to find out for sure, but the setup can be canceled if the options I'm looking for aren't there. Would you like to give it a go? wannabe1 |
