I just wanted to post a thanks to the staff here. Although noone has helped me personally, this forum is full of people with the same problems I've had. A quick search turned up all kinds of helpful hints. In less than two hours of actual work (after a few hours of reading and printing posts from here) I had the Malware removed from my computer and regained control.
After reading all the recomendations on what items to remove with HiJackThis I decided to take matters into my own hands, TWICE! ( I had the same problems 2 months ago) I used all the tips and was able to sort it out all by myself thumbsup.gif The logs are complicated, but with little understanding of what they are, you can decipher what should and should not be there.

Thanks again for giving me the courage and knowledge to tackle this computer stuff on my own. Keep up the good work.

Dave

True, I have had lots of my problems solved without posting or just from posting and the friendly people helping, unlike alot of other forums who either dont reply or give sarcastic answers which doesnt really help. Thanks to everyone at G2G!

I got a little nervous reading the first few words of the topic, " This forum is full of..." whistling.gif

Thanks for the kind words. We all spend a lot of our personal time here. Knowing that we're helping others, and that it's appreciated makes it all worth while. thumbsup.gif

I agree, you gotta love the people here at GTG. They welcome you, make sure you know where everything is, help you get started, and answer all your questions in a kind, timely manner. That's the main reason I want to become one of them. So anyway, thanks and keep up the good work. biggrin.gif

yea this forum rocks, ive learnt so much and been so inspired im trying to get my chops up at geek U so i can help other too, i find it fun.
yea other help forums usually suck, where did these geek u guys come from, there must be a little bit of niceness still in the world

the only thing that would make this forum better is if there was more swear words.

i really like swear words for some reason, most forums dont like them though, so i get banned alot.

G2G looks like its worth an exception though.

Slowfuse, as I told you in chat, we don't allow swearing here OR in chat. no.gif This is a family friendly site, and that's the way it stays. We have badword filters in place. The people who intentionally slightly mis-spell curse words end up banned for their efforts.

haha, yea like i said this place is worth acting like a church...

i do notice everyone here is quite strict...

i thought about it though, and when i got my hjt log checked the dude was real professional, and maybe if he was more relaxed and stuff i might not of trusted him so much.

i mean it would be so easy to permanently destroy peoples pcs here.
so i understand.

I missed this when it was first posted... even though it's late, it's worth quoting. That is exactly why we teach professionalism during GeekU. When you are professional, people tend to trust what you're telling them a whole lot more. wink.gif

Epsilon: Thank you for the wonderful comments and feedback! smile.gif
