To eliminate a couple of things, boot the PC and keep tapping F8 right after the beep until you get options, select command prompt only, type scanreg.exe /fix then press enter, it will run through a few screens then say registry repaired. Press enter then press ctrl + alt + delete keys together to reboot.
When it has loaded, click start, all programmes, accessories, system tools, system information, tools then run system file checker and replace any files it asks for from the 98SE CD. Running these checks will rebuild the registry and replace missing system files |

There may be an interlock switch which tells the system if the computer was tampered with. It will activated by removing the covers. Is there any kind of switch which is operated by the covers?

QUOTE(Matt @1230 @ Aug 20 2005, 01:39 PM) inside the computer or on the out side When you take the cover off, look to see if it operates a pushbutton or lever that might operate a switch. |

Thanks for the help. But when the background appeared I pressed ctrl+alt+delete and widows task messenger appeared and I clicked start a new task then got into my control panel and got into system recovery a when back 2 days and then all the programs appeared and the taskbar . Like Tyger said "There may be an interlock switch which tells the system if the computer was tampered with." there probably was a interlock switch but it could only be turned of by disabling It through the computer Thanks Tyger and Keith for the help
