i am doing this for a friend since she is unable to get on the internet. her computer is not working. when you start up, there is a blank screen, some of the icons don't work, you can't get ie to work, and when you click on my computer you get a screen that pops up and says "Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on ths page. As a result, the page may not display correctly."

i recently had to use this site to help me and found your site to be very helpful. we would appreciate any help you have thanks.

Please go to the malware forum and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the CLICK HERE .

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty--and you may not be-- then post a hijackthis log in THAT forum.

If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to this thread.

i know you said the machine can't get online but..you could put some of the programs on disk and run them on her machine.....it sounds fishy
