Here is my hijackthis log.
I need to remove something called 101links.info

Everytime I use a search page (google/yahoo) it hijacks any results I click on. So when i search geekstogo.com in Google instead of going to geekstogo.com it goes to 101links.info and displays ads

I've tried ad-aware / spyware blaster / anti-vir and others, but none seem to get rid of it.

Im using an Acer laptop (intel) with e-power management. Running both IE and Firfox (it happens on both) with google and yahoo search bars.

Any help is appreciated

Hello,

* Please download FixwareOut from the following site:
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/lonny/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts. If your firewall gives an alert, (because this tool will download an additional file from the internet), please don't let your firewall block it, but allow it instead.
Then you will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

Once the desktop loads please post the text that will open (report.txt) and a new Hijackthis log.

Hi,

This looks OK again.

Check and fix next entry in HijackThis:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)

Your version of Java is outdated and needs to be updated to take advantage of fixes that have eliminated security vulnerabilities.
Updating Java:
  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 2.
  • Scroll down to where it says "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 2".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
  • The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
    - Examples of older versions in Add or Remove Programs:
    • Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2
    • J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0
    • J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u2-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version.
Let me know in your next reply how things are now...

thanks for your quick help. Fixwareout seemed to have fixed the problem, and it hasnt happened since.

I would like to leave you a small donation for your help (as it saved me a lot of headaches). Nothing big just a couple bucks that are left in my paypal account. Hope others do the same.
