how can i convert wmv video clips to watch on dvd player

hi i'm new here and i have a problem ,i got a progressive scan dvd player for christmas so i could watch my cd's that i have video clips on but they are wmv and it won't play in my dvd player how do i convert them,thank you very much bek429
