i have a pc that the onboard net controller is no good. so i decided to go back to my spare parts and install a network card. the thing is i dont know what network card it is, thus i cant look for the driver. how can i determine what network card i have. i know its an intel, but its not like there is a model number on it. i can get the device instance id in device manager. but how do i tie that id to a product so i can get the driver. thanks for your help This post has been edited by brute force: May 9 2008, 10:30 AM |

you can usually locate the driver online by searching with the number on the big chip on the NIC

really? ill try it. what i really need is a databsse that ties the hardware to a device instance id so i can know the hardware to get the driver
