I have a few questions. If you can help me with them I will appreciate it. 1- I have now the McAffee virus and spam protection free from AOL. How do I put a suspected file in Qurantine? 2- what is the best way to backup my files and pictures for the same computer or another computer? 3- what is the best browser to use if any? I am using the Aol main page. no browser. I have the choice of Explorer, Aol browser. Thank you. Learning every day |

1 is difficult for anyone without that software to answer, and none of the staff use AOL. I can say that most antivirus and malware programs detect a bad file and offer you the change to delete, quaranteen or ignore upon detection,
2. That depends on what you mean by files Most personal files should be stored in a folder called c:\documents and settings\{username}, so backing that folder up backs up user files and most user settings. Programs are stored in c:\program files\{program name} but you cannot back up a program and expect it to work in another computer since programs store needed files in multiple locations. However, some programs DO store data files in these folders. It depends on the program. So sometimes you need to back up a folder there, too (for example, a game may store a saved game in a folder called c:\program files\{game name}\savedgames 3. Use Mozilla Firefox for most surfing needs, but use IE for windows updates. |
