how to use Thunderbird with AOL

hi there everyone,
after having usign AOL for about 10 years, i now notice that i no longer need the AOL software to access the internet. which is great lol. but im not keen on signing on to aol.co.uk to manage my email, so ive heard that thunderbird is a great bit of software. but icant for the life of me work out how to set it up to work with my aol account. i dont know whether i need to use POP or IMAP, and what the incomming and outgoing servers are? where can i find these??? please help me!!!!!!!
