Hello,

*Hijackthis is still in your temp-folder, so I strongly advise to create a permanent folder and move hijackthis.exe into it. The reason is because hijackthis creates backups and when it's in your temp-folder it can be accidentally deleted.
How do you make a permanent folder:

Click My Computer, then C:\ and then on Program Files.
In the menu bar, File->New->Folder.
That will create a folder named New Folder, which you can rename to "HJT" or "HijackThis".
Now you have C:\Program Files\HijackThis. Put your HijackThis.exe there.

Open notepad and copy and paste next in the white field in it:
(don't copy the word code on top in it)

sc stop DAC2W2Kg

pause

sc delete DAC2W2Kg

cd %windir%
attrib -r -s -h stsheets.dat
del stsheets.dat

cd system32\drivers\
attrib -r -s -h dac2w2kg.sys
del dac2w2kg.sys

Save this as fix.bat ,choose to save as *all files and place it on your desktop.
Doubleclick on fix.bat.
A window will open.
It'll ask you to press any button to go further, so press any button.
The window will automatically close again.

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://rl.webtracer.cc/-/?bayzm
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://rl.webtracer.cc/-/?bayzm
O1 - Hosts: 1159680172 auto.search.msn.com
O16 - DPF: {11010101-1001-1111-1000-110112345678} - ms-its:mhtml:file://C: oo.mht!http://superprogdown...4.chm::/win.exe
O19 - User stylesheet: C:\WINDOWS\stsheets.dat

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Reboot and post a new hijackthislog.

Hello,

Can you give me some feedback if your problem is solved?
Because we need an extra step to restore some settings in the registry.
The main problem can be solved now, but it isn't all fixed yet. That's why it is important you give some feedback and post a new hijackthislog.

I couldn't get the internet to work at all yesterday. Sorry it took to long to get back. I ran the fix.bat. Then I did the HighJackThis and I got an error saying something is blocking it or I don't have rights to write to it.

Also McAfee stopped three Trojans since I ran the fix.bat.

Here is the new log.

I knew McAfee would interfere with the fix in a way.. seen it in another similar case too.

Could you check if next files are still present? (make sure hidden files and folders are visible:)

Click Start.
Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option. !! important!!
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

C:Windows\system32\drivers\dac2w2kg.sys <== watch out!! Not the file dac2w2k.sys !!
C:\WINDOWS\stsheets.dat

If so.. delete them in Safe mode. Read here how to boot in safe mode:
http://www.computerh...s/chsafe.htm#02

When done, fix next entries in hijackthis again:

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://rl.webtracer.cc/-/?bayzm
O1 - Hosts: 1159680172 auto.search.msn.com

Next also concerns me...:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\NOTEPAD.EXE

Can you browse to that file, rightclick on it and check the properties?
Tell me what companyname, size, date...

Ah.. that's OK then. It worried me, because it was present in your processes all the time, and I've seen some cases with the webtracer-infection where notepad was also infected. Over here, it's ok.

Can you post another hijackthislog please as a final checkup?

Great, looks good

Seems like the startupkeys are back again. Did you add them yourself? Or did you reďnstall Mcafee?

I also want you to export next keys for me, so I can take a look.

Open notepad and copy and paste next bold in it:

regedit /e look1.txt "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies"
regedit /e look2.txt "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows"
copy look1.txt + look2.txt = Output.txt
del look1.txt
del look2.txt
notepad Output.txt

Save this as look.bat Choose to save as *all files and doubleclick on it.
Notepad will open with some txt in it. Copy and paste the content in your next reply.

Looks good.

It seems like this variant acts a bit different than another variant I installed. (windows.dat -- systemsvr.sys)
The one I installed deleted all the runkeys and browser helper objects and modified some keys (the ones I let you export)
In your case they are not modified... and runkeys are back.

I'm going to install this variant here myself and let you know if there are any other keys modified/deleted, so we can fix this.

I'll be back :tazz:

Edit.. by the way.. Do you have Spybot s&d installed? Can you remember if the sdhelper from spybot s&d was active?
