I ran a panda, trendcall, adaware, microsoft anti spyware, and ewido scan. They were able to get of some things but iexplore.exe still lingers in task manager even if I close it off. If I use IE, I get a pop-up(luckily I use firefox).

Thanks in advance for any help.

I decided to try cleanup! Deleted all the temps. Also removed as much spy/mal/adware in system thru multiple scanners. But even tho it was there still I tried something I haven't done in awhile.

System Restore! I went back to July 4 just for fun and after a reboot. It no longer spawns. I'm assuming when I installled netpumper + wakenet adware bundle with it that made iexplore.exe act the way it did in task manager always coming back even after ending it as a task.

As you have carried out a system restore, please post a fresh HJT log and also carry out a online Panda active scan from the link below. and post both logs back.

We will ensure you are clean and then we can delete system restore points to avoid possible reinfection in the future, should you need to restore and pick the infected restore point inadvertently.

Hi again,

Just a few things to do.

A malicious .DLL file is disrupting the LSP chain on your computer. We need to get rid of it.

1. Please download LSPFix from here.
2. Run the LSPFix.exe that you have just finished downloading.
3. Check the I know what I'm doing box.
4. In the Keep box you may see one or more instances of 'xfire_lsp_11078.dll' .
5. Select every instance of 'xfire_lsp_11078.dll' and move each one to the Remove box by clicking the >> button. If non exist just click finish.
6. When you are done click Finish>>.

Please consider removing Gozilla as this is bundled with Adware. Let me know your decision on that one in your next reply.

Empty out Microsoft Antispyware quarantine folder.

Boot into Safe Mode and check the following:

O15 - Trusted Zone: *.wwoec.com

Ensure no windows open and click fix checked.

Using windows explorer locate and deklete the following

C:\Documents and Settings\paul chee\Local Settings\Temp\lksqbeoh.exe

Reboot pc normally, rescan with HJT and post the log back

I've decided to keep Go!Zilla until I can find an old installer and back it up. The program still has a few practical uses for me even though I haven't had any probelms with associated adware (could be just info miners though).

From your log, I see nothing in the ways of trojans, nor any evil entities attempting to possess your computer, except for Windows but it's too late for that one. :tazz:

Congratulations your log now appears to be clean. ;)

Here are some tips, to reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future, I strongly recommend installing the following applications:

Detect and Remove Programs:
  • How to use Ad-Aware to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Ad-Aware.
  • How to use Spybot to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Spybot. Similar to Ad-Aware, I strongly recommend both to catch most spyware.
Prevention Programs:
  • Spywareblaster <= SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed.
  • Spywareguard <= SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
  • IE/Spyad <= IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (Cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
  • MVPS Hosts file <= The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your coputer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer
  • Google Toolbar <= Get the free google toolbar to help stop pop up windows.
Other necessary Programs:
  • AntiVirus Program<= An AntiVirus program is a must! Whether it is a free version like AVG or Anti-Vir, or a shareware version like Norton or Kapersky, this is a must have.
  • Firewall<= A firewall is definatley a must have. Two good free versions are Sygate and ZoneLabs.
  • More Secure Browser<= Internet Explorer is not the most secure and best browser. There are safer and better alternatives available. I recommend Firefox, however Opera and SlimBrowsers are good as well.
And also see TonyKlein's good advice
So how did I get infected in the first place? and AntiSpyware Net's spyware article: Spyware, Adware, Malware: What it is, how it got on my computer, how to get rid of it, and how to prevent it.
