Hi, I'm prety much new at this
I have some problems...
When I restarted my pc I didn't get my normal desktop, what i get is a blue screen and a message saying:

Security warning

A fatal error in IE has occured at 0028:Coo11E36 in VXDVMM <01> + 00010E36. Error was caused by Trojan-Spy.HTML.Smitfraud.c

*System can not function in normal mode.
Please check you security settings

*Scan your PC with any available antivirus/spyware remover program to fix the problem.

Also "Antivirus Gold 2.0" installs itself everytime i restart my pc. I tried uninstalling it everytime but it keeps on coming back.

Ever since I had these problems I can't access my hotmail account, my homepage is changed to about: blank (www.oneclicksearches.com)
Once hotmail is opened I get a webpage, the same as my homepage (see the attachment)

Here is my Hijack This log:

Hello AcidBurn777, welcome to Geeks to Go! I'm Kristy and I will be helping you.

Please read these instructions carefully and print them out! Be sure to follow ALL instructions!

Please RIGHT-CLICK: HERE and go to Save As (in Internet Explorer it's "Save Target As") in order to download Grinler's reg file. Save it to your desktop.

Locate "smitfraud.reg" on your desktop and double-click it. When asked if you want to merge with the registry, click YES. Wait for the "merged successfully" prompt then follow the rest of the instructions below.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs and remove the following programs, if found:

Security IGuard
Virtual Maid
Search Maid
PSGuard
MessengerPlus! 3

Exit Add/Remove Programs.

*IMPORTANT*CLICK THIS LINK TO LEARN HOW TO VIEW HIDDEN FILES

* Please download the Killbox by Option^Explicit. *In the event you already have Killbox, this is a new version that I need you to download.

* Save it to your desktop.

* Please double-click Killbox.exe to run it.

* Select "Delete on Reboot".

* Please copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C

C:\wp.exe
C:\wp.bmp

* Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".

* Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

While your computer is restarting, tap the F8 key continually until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode, then hit enter.

Make sure you can view hidden files.

Using Windows Explorer, delete the following, if found, (please do NOT try to find them by "search" because they will not show up that way)

Close HiJackThis.

Reboot into normal mode.

1.) Download The Hoster Press "Restore Original Hosts" and press "OK". Exit Program.

2.) Right-Click HERE and Save As to download DelDomains.inf to your desktop.
To use: RIGHT-CLICK DelDomains.inf on your desktop and select: Install (no need to restart)
Note: This will remove all entries in the "Trusted Zone" and "Ranges" also.

3.) Download, install, and run CleanUp!

4.) Run this online virus scan: ActiveScan - Save the results from the scan!

Post a new HiJackThis log along with the results from ActiveScan.

Hello AcidBurn777,

Looks like we're almost done.

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure.

Please save Hijack This in a permanent folder (i.e. C:\HJT). This ensures backups are saved and accessible.

Please run HijackThis, click Scan, and check:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FFFFFFFF-FFFF-FFFF-FFFF-FFFFFFFFFFFA} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\hp8685.tmp (file missing)

Close all open windows except for HijackThis and click Fix Checked.

Please reboot into safe mode (continually tap the F8 key while your system is starting, select Safe Mode from the menu).

Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files/folders in bold (if found):

C:\WINDOWS\system32\hp8685.tmp

Empty your recycle bin and reboot normally.

Please run a free online virus scan here (tick the "Auto Clean" checkbox):
http://housecall.antivirus.com/

And a free trojan scan here:
http://www.moosoft.com/

Reboot your PC.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, and let us know how your system's working. :tazz:

Hey hey
Sorry for the late responce, had it too busy with work and school
I did what you told me
I tried the free onlline virus scan but it doesn't wanna work
I downloaded moosoft and it detected no trojans
Buh i did scan my pc with Norton and found these two:

Source: C:\WINDOWS\uninstIU.exe
Description: The file C:\WINDOWS\uninstIU.exe is infected with the Trojan.Desktophijack.B virus.

Source: C:\WINDOWS\$NtUninstallKB883939$\wininet.dll
Description: The file C:\WINDOWS\$NtUninstallKB883939$\wininet.dll is infected with the W32.Desktophijack virus.

The pc is up and running good now

If there's any tips on how to protect my pc. I'd really apreciate it
THANK YOU sooo much again for the help

Download rkfiles http://skads.org/special/rkfiles.zip and unzip the contents to a new folder on your desktop.

Download the remv3.zip at http://forums.skads....hp?showtopic=80 (look for the attachment posted in that second reply). Make a new folder on the root drive C:\ and unzip remv3.zip files into it.

Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Also make sure that the System Files and Folders are showing/visible also.

Run CleanUp program now and logoff.

REBOOT TO SAFE MODE. These tools MUST be run in safe mode!

Now open the folder where you saved remv3.zip files and double click the rem.bat file and let it run. It will delete the files and remove the infection and then make a log of the files it finds. The log file will be C:\log.txt and bad1.txt (Open the C:\log.txt it created and rename it log1.txt.)

Once in safe mode, double click rkfiles.bat file to run it. It will scan for a while, so please be patient. Wait until the DOS window closes.

**Note** Each tool uses log.txt as it’s output file so make sure you save the entries from one tools log before running the other as it will overwrite the file if you don’t.

Reboot back to normal mode and post the contents of both the log.txt and log1.txt in your next post. along with a fresh hijackthis log
