Hi bigdog1100. I'm Ryan, and I'll be helping you fix your computer.

Sorry for the wait, we have been very busy here lately.

I'm working on your log, as soon as another staff member reviews it I'll post a reply. :tazz:

Hi bigdog1100.

I noticed you have SystemWorks installed. Please read this article on the rootkit that is installed along with it, and make sure that you get the update that will remove it.

You will want to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure, as you will not be able to access the internet later in the fix.

Please go to this page and submit CTxfiHlp.exe . You will have to search for it first though by going to Start > Search. It will produce a report, please post those results in your next post.

Open HiJack This and scan. When it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = 219.93.46.230:80 <-- This IP address points to Malaysia. Unless you live or work in Malaysia, you should remove it.
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ZTgServerSwitch] "c:\program files\support.com\client\bin\tgcmd.exe" /server
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Weather] C:\PROGRA~1\AWS\WEATHE~1\Weather.exe 1
O4 - Global Startup: PGPtray.lnk = ?
O9 - Extra button: WeatherBug - {AF6CABAB-61F9-4f12-A198-B7D41EF1CB52} - C:\PROGRA~1\AWS\WEATHE~1\Weather.exe (HKCU)

Close all open windows except for HiJack This and click fix checked.

Please reboot into safe mode (continually tap the F8 key while your system is starting, select Safe Mode from the menu).

In the Control Panel, go to Add/Remove Programs, and remove Weatherbug.

Using Windows Explorer, please delete the following files:

c:\program files\support.com\client\bin\tgcmd.exe <-- This file
C:\Program Files\AWS\ <-- This folder

Reboot your PC.

Download and Save Blacklight to your desktop:

Double-click blbeta.exe then accept the agreement, leave [X]scan through Windows Explorer checked, click > scan then > next

You'll see a list of all items found. There will also be a log on your desktop with the name fsbl.xxxxxxx.log (the xxxxxxx stand for numbers).

Copy and paste this log in your next reply. Don't choose the rename option yet! I want to see the log first, because legitimate items can also be present there, such as "wbemtest.exe"

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, along with the log from Blacklight, and let us know how your system's working. :tazz:

1.) I have Norton System Works 2006 Premier and Internet Security 2006. I did run Live Update on numerous occasions. This according to Symantec should fix the problem.

2.) CTxfiHlp.exe is Creative Soundblaster file. I have X-FI card.

File: CTXFIHLP.EXE

6.) There was no change in the behavior of my computer. My Internet Explorer is crashing under speciffic situations. Like on www.optonline.net when I open video, it just shuts down. I also get the new thing. It asks me after each reboot and launch of IE, that it is not my default browser, and if I want to make it so. My firefox is not changing anything as it's default broswer feaure is turned off. Also, before I uninstalled it, weather bug was misbehaving, and shuting down at each maximize attempt. I belive it has something to do with Java. However, I did uninstall and install latest Java program from java.com. I don't think I have malvare left on my PC. Except, what is abrada.exe ? It doesn't appear on google.com And I cant find it with search. However it is in my process window.

7.) Also. When I was doing the thing with Hijack This. WHile removing programs it gave me an error message. Here it is attached. HOWEVER, after running hijack this today, I did not find the pgp line anymore. Did I just got rid of my PGP program?

Hi bigdog.

I thought I knew what it was, but it turns out the source I used was incomplete. Let's submit it and see what happens.

Go to Jotti's Virus Scan and submit AGRSMMSG.exe. You will have to search for the file's location using Start > Search. It will produce a report, please copy it into your next reply.

Can you run ewido is safe mode? If so, please follow these directions.

Since you said ewido was crashing, please download the ewido definitions update(5 MB). Once it is finished download, please run it to install the update.

Please reboot into safe mode (continually tap the F8 key while your system is starting, select Safe Mode from the menu).

Once you are in safe mode, do the following:
 • Click on scanner
 • Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
 • You will be prompted to clean the first infection.
 • Select "Perform action on all infections", then proceed.
 • Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
 • Click Save report.
 • Save the report .txt file to your desktop or a location where you can find it easily.
Close ewido anti-malware, and Reboot your PC.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log, along with the reports from Jotti and ewido, in this same topic, and let us know how your system's working. :tazz:

Dear Ryan. I will follow your instructions. However, on I have ran the scanner numerous occasions already, and in safe mode too. And I have to tell you that by running the scanner alone won't solve my problem. My IE still crashes. Please let me know what else I can do. Perhaps I can reset the system files only. I have to Win XP Pro 2nd ed CD. Please :tazz: Thank you.

Hi bigdog. Lets try repairing IE and see if that works.

Go to Start > Run
Enter "sfc /scannow" (without the quotes; note the space between before the /) and press OK
Follow the prompts , and when the System File Checker is finished, reboot you computer.

If that does not work, try the next method.

From the Start menu, select Search, select All Files and Folders.
Select More Advanced Options and place a checkmark beside Search Hidden Files and Folders option.
Ensure that Search System Folders and Search Subfolders are also checked.
In the All or Part of the File Name box, type ie.inf
In the Look In drop-down menu, select C: or the letter of the hard drive that contains the Windows folder.
Click the Search button.
In the search results pane, find the ie.inf file located in Windows\Inf folder.
Right click the ie.inf file and click Install on the context menu.
Reboot the computer when the file copy process is complete.

Afterwards, make sure that your Windows Updates is up to date, and then post back and let me know how it's running.

Dear Ryan. I have some knowledge of PC, and already exhausted do-it yourself methods to repair IE. I did try what you suggested already. In first scenario OS wants WIN XP 2nd Edition Disk. I do not have that. In second scenario, I get error message, because OS can't find something in Windows folder after I click install ie.inf. I already did that with someone on Live Chat. Also, I tried to update registry so that I can install same version IE by getting a set up file from microsoft. I still gives me a message that I have the same version of IE and set up cannot continue. Any other suggestions? Please :) :tazz:

Hi bigdog

Congratulations, your log is CLEAN :tazz:

We have a couple of last steps to perform and then you're all set.

First, let's reset your hidden/system files and folders. System files are hidden for a reason and we don't want to have them openly available and susceptible to accidental deletion.
* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading UNSELECT Show hidden files and folders.
* CHECK the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.
Next, let's clean your restore points and set a new one:

Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove infected files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs from changing those files. This is the only way to clean these files: (You will lose all previous restore points which are likely to be infected)1. Turn off System Restore.On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
2. Restart your computer.

3. Turn ON System Restore.On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
System Restore will now be active again.

Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programs:
 • SpywareBlaster to help prevent spyware from installing in the first place.
 • SpywareGuard to catch and block spyware before it can execute.
 • IESpy-Ad to block access to malicious websites so you cannot be redirected to them from an infected site or email.
You should also have a good firewall. Here are 3 free ones available for personal use:and a good antivirus (these are also free for personal use):It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system and to keep them updated.

To keep your operating system up to date visitmonthly. And to keep your system clean run these free malware scannersweekly, and be aware of what emails you open and websites you visit.

To learn more about how to protect yourself while on the internet read this article by Tony Klien: So how did I get infected in the first place?

Because your issues do not appear to be malware related, you should post in the Windows XP, 2000, 2003, NTforum. Please let them know in your post that you have already been cleared by the malware people, as that may be the first reply you get.

Ryan. I have Norton 2006 System Works premiere and Norton 2006 Intenet Security. I have spy bot active, and spyware doctor which I use to scan. I think I have plenty of those. I will kill restore points. Thank you. I will now post at that link you gave me to start working on my IE problem. Again thanks for your support. :tazz:
