Hello silencer.dot,

You installed a fresh, brand new drive, correct?

Did you do any kind of hard drive clone? Or did you just stick in the new drive and there were files on it?

And did you set the new drive as Master, Slave, or Cable Select?

okay...I say we collect info about your computer. This will let us see what's up:

Download and run WinAudit. Save the audit to your desktop. This will save three files. Take all three files and put them into a single zip (compressed) folder. Name the folder WinAudit. Attach it to your next post.

I'm downloading it and I'll attach it...

I believe .rar files cannot be attached. Here it is as a .zip file:

Attachment removed

I'll check it out and let you know what I think ASAP tomorrow, unless wannabe1 wants to continue. :tazz:

It is for us. I attached it so others could benefit, rather than going through that website you posted. :) It's easier that way.

I'll check it out and let you know what I think ASAP tomorrow, unless wannabe1 wants to continue. It's my bed time :tazz: .

That's what I figured. In the WinAudit, your new hard drive wasn't showing up.

On your new hard drive, look at the back, where the cables plug in. You should see a row of pins that have a jumper on one of the rows. This jumper sets whether the HD is master, slave, or Cable Select. Somewhere on the hard drive, or in the instructions, you will see how to set it up as a slave.

If you have any trouble finding that, let me know. I can look for pictures of how to set up your HD for you.

After setting it up as a slave, you must partition the new one and format it. Be careful that you don't format the one with your data on it! If you need help with that too, let me know.
