I am having trouble with some very annoying maware. The most obvious symptom is a system tray icon that is a red circle with a white cross. It occasionally pops up "windows" messages stating that my computer is vulnerable or under attack. There are also a dozen or so icons on my desktop for casinos and cigarettes and similar crap. I tried all the solutions on the intro page with no luck. Here is a copy of my HiJackThis log:

Hi There,

* Download Killbox to your desktop.
Click killbox.exe.
Select the option "Delete on reboot".
In the field "Full Path of File to Delete" copy and paste next:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\param32.dll

Choose the option: "unregister dll before deleting"
Click the red circle with the white cross in it.
Killbox will tell you that this file will be deleted on next reboot.. click YES
When killbox asks to reboot now, click YES
If you get the following message: "PendingFileRenameOperations Registry Data has been Removed by External Process!" ,reboot your system manually

Your system will reboot now.

Look if the following files are present and delete them:

If you can't delete thim in normal mode, try it in safe mode, or use killbox.
Delete the related icons on your desktop.

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

Hello,

Good job, that's a clean log.

To keep this clean in the future, I would suggest the following things:

Install Spywareblaster
SpywareBlaster doesn`t scan and clean for so-called spyware, but prevents it from being installed in the first place. It blocks the popular spyware ActiveX controls, and also prevents the installation of any of them via a webpage.

Let your antispywarescanner(s) scan frequently and don't forget to update before.

And I do suggest you perform an online virusscan once in a while. (housecall and/or Bitdefender). Because what one virusscanner can't find another one maybe can.
Also make sure that your virusscanner, the one that is installed on your system is always up to date!

Make sure your windows has the latest updates.. So visit ASAP http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ to install all the updates and security patches, because your system is extremely vulnerable for the moment and malware can get installed without any problems
