symptons include:

windows service pack 2 firewall keeps on getting turned off, i keep on getting told my avast antivirus is not up to date, even after i've updated, i use a belkin wireless broadband router (problem computer is actually connected by ethernet) and broadband keeps on cutting out and resetting, and if it is working it is very slow, the date in windows keeps on changing and outlook express cannot acces email server to download new messages (btbroadband).

I have run avast and it found Btgrab.dll and put it in the chest. spybot S&D found a couple of adwares that it removed.

below is my hijack this log:

Hi acox,

I would advise you to uninstall
ViewPoint manager
under Add/Remove Software

Then please download RKFiles from here:
http://skads.org/special/rkfiles.zip
Unzip it to the desktop but please do NOT run it yet.

Next, please reboot your computer in safe mode and run RKFiles.bat. It may take a while. When it is finished a windows should appear with a log.

Restart your computer in normal mode, and please post the contents of the logfile, which should be at c:\log.txt.

have uploaded GnucDNA.dll.

downloaded Process explorer v9.03

went to View> but couldn't find view DLLs so clicked View>Lower Pane View and changed it to DLLs and View>Select Columns>DLL and checked all boxes

then went Find>Find DLL and put in GnucDNA.dll and then GnucDNA but neither returned any results, repeated in Find>Handle and no results either.

thanks again

Can you uninstall and reinstall Avast please?

I noticed some files reported missing in your log.

That would account for Outlook hanging on a mail with attachment(s) and the slowdowns.

Well. I saw some programs we could disable, but noting that might explain the Outlook problem.

Although....... which Symantec software are you running?

Check the following items in HijackThis.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [zBrowser Launcher] C:\Program Files\Logitech\iTouch\iTouch.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [EM_EXEC] C:\PROGRA~1\Logitech\MOUSEW~1\SYSTEM\EM_EXEC.EXE

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime

O4 - Global Startup: Logitech Desktop Messenger.lnk = C:\Program Files\Logitech\Desktop Messenger\8876480\Program\LDMConf.exe

Reboot. Let me know about the Symantec software.

running norton antispam (which is crap anyway so should I just uninstall it?) - used to have norton antivirus but now avast. looking at the log,

HKLM:\..\Run[ccApp]"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe"

when shutting down windows a box always popsup saying waiting for ccApp.exe to close, and gives you the option to click End Now.

If you don't like Antispam anyway (did you see me dodge stating my own opinion :tazz: ) please uninstall it.

We can safely remove all the unwnated Symantec processes when that is done. We could be dealing with the same conflicts that are often the result of two AV's running resident at the same time.

ok i went add/remove programs and clicked on Norton Antispam and chose option to remove. Norton box pops up, and i again clicked Remove all. Uninstallation started and then I got following message:

"Norton Antispam uninstallation has failed. Do you want to try uninstall again?"

Abort, Retry, Ignore.

Out of 3 options, Retry and Ignore just produced same message as above and Abort cancelled uninstallation.

cheers again!
