okay, so it said that it "Cannot import C:/HKCU.reg: error accessing the registry" I figure that's just the issue you mentioned... since a bunch of stuff changed... like my AGfree acts like it did for the other accounts [something about not being able to configure e-mail] the most used proragrams list reset.... but guess what? STILL no change in the desktop....

Yeah, but I did that. And it didn't work the same. Prolly cause my box is shackled down pretty tight. I just stumped me for a sec. Ultimatley it's inconsequential.

please open regedit

navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies

choose export, export it as policies, call it pol.reg, then zip it up and attach it to a new post

I wouldn't bother zipping... it's empty... so it's a really tiny file anyway, but I guess the boards don't like .reg... hehe

also, did you do this:

Right click on desktop. Click down to Properties, then open the Desktop tab. Click on the Customize Desktop button, then open the Web tab. Delete everything in the Web Pages box except, My Current Home Page. Press OK, then Apply, and OK again.
Restart

the reg file I made deleted it...it was turning activedesktop on even though you were turning it off.
