Which means that Windows has not disabled Ctrl+Alt+Del.
But maybe the Task Manager is having some problems opening.
Follow the steps below to look missing\corrupt system files:
Start->Run. Type cmd. Press Enter.
In the Command-Prompt Window, type sfc /SCANONCE. Press Enter.
Follow the instructions by the System File Checker.
(Note:The scan will done on next reboot, so u will be prompted for a reboot.)

For cmd:
Download and run XP_FIX.EXE from the following page, this might fix cmd
http://www.visualtour.com/downloads/.

For task manager, follow the steps below:
  • Download the following reg-fix(from Kelly's Korner)
    taskmgrenable.reg
  • Reboot.
  • Check if Task manger works, otherwise continue to next step
  • Download the following reg-fix(from Kelly's Korner)
    TaskManager_Reset.reg
Also, can u post a HijackThis log.

im having the exact same problem on my XP machine (after instaling some DVD ripper software 2 days ago which ive now uninstalled)

For cmd:
Download and run XP_FIX.EXE from the following page, this might fix cmd
http://www.visualtour.com/downloads/.

ive done this and it promts thats it has fixed any XP problems. open the CMD in DOS mode and when i type nothing outputs on the screen

For task manager, follow the steps below:

  • Download the following reg-fix(from Kelly's Korner)
    taskmgrenable.reg
  • Reboot.
  • Check if Task manger works, otherwise continue to next step
  • Download the following reg-fix(from Kelly's Korner)
    TaskManager_Reset.reg

this is where im having troubles, when i click the links they take me to TXT

"Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]
"DisableTaskMgr"=dword:00000000"

am i supposed to add this some where? if so where? :tazz:

cheers in advance for any help

Looks like your file association for .reg files is changed.
Right-click on the .reg file, choose Open With and select Registry Editor.
