OH, wait! I just read your other replies. You got the wrong driver. Should be OK, though. In the future, if it tells you that you have a newer version of a file, don't overwrite it.

well.. i had to do this one update thing it said to do... thats done.. now i am fininshing installing it.. i really hope it works! .. but 1 weird thing is.. every time i restart my computer the thing i untinstalled ( with the ! beside it) keeps comin back..?? oo well... ill tell u wat happens wen it is compltely done

Two options come readily to mind:

1) Get the restore CD from HP.

2) Get a soundcard.

how do u get a soundcard?? and ive already had a system restore on my computer and it messed it all up.... but they had me do the restore without a CD..

You can buy them at any store that sells computer parts--even Wal-Mart. I don't imagine you want anything too extravagant so it should be reasonably cheap. As for the restore, with the disk, you can format (or erase) your hard drive then start from scratch. It's the best way to go when you have problems that can't be resolved otherwise. It puts your computer back to the condition it was in when you bought it. But backup your imporatant files and information first, cause they'll be gone afterward. Then you can put them back. Save pictures, music, addresses, letters, and program info. like checking accounts if you use a money management proggie, or documents from your word processing proggies, etc.

alright.. awesome.. i think that would be a good idea because i am having many problems with my PC lately.. if i got the cd (not soundcard) it would put my computer in the condition wen i bought it.. would it delete any viruses i currently have?.. and how do i get this restore cd?

i have 1 other question.. i have a computer that is still in its box and has never been opened.. we bought an extra one for my dad wenever he gets around to using it.. it is the exact model like my computer.. do u think it would be ok to look in that computer box and see if there is a restore disk in there that i could use??... if there is would it b ok to use it 4 my PC??

Certainly! If they're the same make & model, sure! BUT! First, make two copies of the disk--one for you and one for your dad. Then, store the original away in a safe place. Use the copies. If one copy gets messed up, copy the other copy. If both copies get messed up, copy the original again. That way your original will stay in like-new condition and won't, in theory, get messed up or lost. Let me know how it goes, ok?

They're all free. You won't need the pop-up blocker with WinXP SP2, though, but I prefer to use it.

According to the first link, you might be able to create your own recovery disk right from the downloaded software you already have. Try that first--it's free. To save your stuff, burn it onto CD, but you have to go through and see exactly where each program is storing it. The easiest way to do that is to pull up something in the program and hit save as (not just save), then see where it's going. If you still don't know, start clicking the "up one level' icon (it's a picture of a folder with an arrow pointing up) until you get to the cd drive. Write down each folder's name and you'll have a backward path. Got to your C drive--found on my computer--and start clicking the folders you wrote down in reverse.
