Hi, have just found this forum and hope someone can help with my problem.
I know how to use a computer (well just about LOL) but have not got a clue how it works

My problem is the whole thing freezing when I run AVG, Spybot, Ad-aware, Panda activescan and Shockwave Daily jigsaw (yes I'm addicted ) They all run two thirds of the way through then the whole PC freezes, CTL. ALT. Delete doesn't work nor the restart button, only solution is to turn off at the wall and restart.

All other programs website run fine.

Today I removed AVG SPYBOT CCLEANER AD-AWARE PANDA and REGISTRY MACHANIC and installed a 6 mths free trail of F-SECURE ANTI VIRUS 2006 but when I ran this it also froze !

Please go here:

Malware Removal Guide

Run all the programmes as advised then post a current Hijack This Log in a new topic in the Malware Forum

For the purpose of accurate malware analysis, Hijack This Logs are only dealt with in the Malware Forum. Posting them anywhere else will result in a delayed response

If you are unable to run any of the programmes, ask for advice in the Malware Forum

Have done so........ it froze as I run the Spybot.

Bummer! :tazz:

Please download the trial version of ewido anti-malware here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

Please read Ewido Setup Instructions
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Next, please reboot your computer in SafeMode

Run Ewido:
  • Click on scanner
  • Click on Memory scan and the scan will begin.
  • While the scan is in progress you will be prompted to clean files, click OK
  • When it asks if you want to clean the first file, put a check in the lower left corner of the box that says "Perform action on all infections" then choose clean and click OK.
  • Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
  • Click Save report.
  • Save the report .txt file to your desktop.
Close ewido anti-malware.

The memory scan works different then the filescanners, so hopefully that will reveal something.
Post the content of report.txt

I'm not to unhappy about that. :tazz:
At least it finished and there is no malware running in your memory.
Try the same in normal mode.
If that works and there are no results, please try the registry scan next.

Post the reports.

Click Start > Run > copy this command:
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" /rereg

Then click OK and wait a few seconds.

Then open an explorer windows (My Computer)
Rightclick the C: drive and from the menu choose "Scan With Ewido"

Let me know if it can finish and if it does, I'd like to see the report again.

If it is unable to finish it might be helpfull if I know if the scans all crash on the same folder.

Did it find anything during the time it was able to scan?

I'm afraid this will turn out to be a hardware or OS problem.

For starters let me know the type of harddrive you are using.
