After encountering this seemingly unremovable web desktop background, I attempted to get rid of it with many kinds of anti-spy programs. Of course, it was still there while I downloaded Hijackthis and strangely enough, when I tried to cure my computer again a couple of hours later, the web desktop background had no more dark-themed warning (I suppose this is from all those attempts to rid spyware) but instead had a blank background, intermittently changing from white to flesh/tan. Here is the hijackthis log:

This one is maybe a virus or just a program if you have a HP machine its up to you if you want to fix it or not.
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Reminder] "C:\Windows\Creator\Remind_XP.exe"
After you have done this delete cookies, temp internet files.
Run and post a new hijack this log.

Thank you for responding. I did all you said except fix that last file, and so far the background is still gone, though so is the warning. And the file with brother in its name just came back. Here's the latest log:

Someone with time, please respond. My computer has been slowing down a few browsers have closed without reason and I'm afraid it still has something to do with the browser desktop of "Warning! You're in danger!". I posted an updated log below, so for those who have time, please help.

Close all browsers and open windows except HJT then click Fix Checked

Reboot, then do the following:

Install CWShredder, then:

Open CWS and click Check for Updates
Then click "FIX"

*Close ALL windows except Spybot S&D
*Click the button to "Search for Updates" and download and install the Updates.
*Close Spybot then launch it again
*Click the button "Check for Problems"
*When Spybot is done scanning, it will be showing "RED" (RED) entries, "BLACK" entries and "GREEN" (GREEN) entries in the window

Thanks for the instructions, rstones12. But in spite of two cleanings, my computer hasn't changed much with the desktop-browser still there. I apologize if I seem to have gotten a rather annoyingly difficult malware.

When you are talking about the desktop browser,
can you give some more detail about what happens and info on that browser itself.
Does it give any info in the top title bar.

You have some other programs installed re:

OmniPass
Brother
Bit Tornado
Yahoo Browser
Scan Soft Paper Port

Do you use these programs.

Well, the desktop lost its background because it somehow turned entirely into an unremovable browser because it had no title bar. It used to have a warning about me being in danger, but now it simply flashed back and forth between white and tan backgrounds. And when I right-clicked on the desktop, a different menu comes up as though it were a browser, rendering me incapable of adding new folders.

Um, yes, I use those five programs. Could they be responsible for the malware/spyware?

Oh, and my ISP is DSL, which I forgot to mention. Thanks for the help. ^_^
