laptop won't connect to internet

OS: windows xp, sp2
I have a hp laptop running xp. Went into run, typed in msconfig, it said selective startup, clear of the load systems checkbox, clicked ok and restarted. But when it restarted, i can't connect to the internet. Tried reinstalling my dsl software and it won't let me. I can't do anything, i can't even get it to start in safe mode to fix. Is there anyone that can help.

What did you exactly do in msconfig, and why are you in there? Are you trying to solve a problem using msconfig? What boxes did you uncheck?

it's my friends laptop and she was having issues. It was making her log into her computer everytime she booted it up. So she went to help and support and this is the steps she took

1. go into misconfig
2. click selective startup
3. clear the load system services check box
4. click ok and restart the computer

wasn't fixed and now she can't get online with the computer. That's all she did and help and support told her to do this and it's more messed up than before. Does this help answer your question? she's very frustrated and can't use the laptop at all.

reverse those steps and see if she can connect again

OS: XP
1. right click on my computer and click manage
2. click services and applications
3. in the right pane double click services
4. look for the Wireless Zero Configuration in the right pane
5. If it is not started --> right click on the service and click start.
