Well, Runescape is made with Java, though you could make a game similar to it in many programming languages. Java is good if you want to make an online game that you don't have to download (like Runescape). If you are okay with people downloading your game, or if you want to make an offline game, then C, C++, VB.NET, or other languages could be used. Use the one that you are most comfortable with.

What your trying to attempt is practically impossible. There a hundreds of employees that work for that company. One person isn't going to get much done. Not to mention that almost all games are many years of hard work from many developers.
