How do I access and change the WINDOWS\host file in Windows98SE? I'm trying to access a virtual server and I need to make it believe it is looking at a different machine.

Open it in Notepad.

But the Hosts file just generally redirects traffic from its proper destination to somewhere else, usually back to the calling machine itself. I'm not aware of its use being able to convince another machine to think differently about this machine (if that makes sense).
