I was using DVD shrink before I formatted, it worked great. After format, I installed free version of Nero, until I got a copy of nero express 6. When I installed Nero Express 6 tonight, it gave me this error over & over again, even though I reinstalled the disk 3 times. All I want to do is get this software working. Things I've tried... downloaded advrcntr2.dll and put it in my c:/windows/system and c:/windows/system32 folder. also put file into the c:/programfiles/common files/ahead/lib folder and this error won't go away, let alone allow me to burn dvds. HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED! Thank you. |

LOL wow my system mused be really screwed up.
I just downloaded express burn like you suggested at http://www.softpedia.com/get/CD-DVD-Tools/...VD-Burner.shtml It finds the burner drive, and just when it seems like it's burning, it errors out and says (error not known, try reducing your burn speed). tried reducng burning speed, no help. and even though it doesn't seem to have burned anything, it won't take the same blank disc again. I don't get it... suggestions? everyone? grrrrrrrrrrr This post has been edited by chinagirlnewbie: Nov 10 2006, 12:30 AM |

If you saved the Nero files to the hard drive you could uninstall it, run through this, then re-install it
Items in blue which are underlined are clickable to give more information about the process Click start then run, type prefetch then press enter, click edit then select all, right click any file then click delete, confirm delete Click start, all programmes, accessories, system tools to run disc clean up, then from system tools, run disc defragmenter. Click start then run, type sfc /scannow then press enter, you need the XP CD Windows File Protection will show a blue onscreen progress bar, when the bar goes, reboot If you do not have an XP CD you can borrow a same version as was originally installed XP CD, if you downloaded SP2 then you need an SP1 XP CD Download and install Tune Up 2006 Trial Run Tune Up Disc Clean Up Run Tune Up Registry Clean Up Click Optimize and Improve to run Reg Defrag, which will take a few minutes and need a reboot. You should disable the antivirus programme to run this Check the anti virus is running after the reboot After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to optimize the computer, select computer with an internet connection from the drop down menu, this also requires a reboot After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to accelerate downloads, select the speed just above your actual connection speed, this requires a reboot After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to run system advisor |

GOOD NEWS! The error message This program requires the file advrcntr2.dll is very much misleading. I even copied this file to several folders, and it did not make any difference. The solution is to play around with the source and destination drives (make sure the correct ones are selected) - THIS DID SOLVE THE PROBLEM IMMEDIATELY. So, it really had nothing to do with the "missing" file advrcntr2.dll. Quite simple. Good luck.
