GuardianOS/Snap Server 18000 access?

Hi,i hope someone here can help me, "overlandstorage" have been no help at all!

I recently purchased a second hand Snap Server 18000 in the hopes of setting up a home Application/Data storage network.I have 2 xeon servers using windows 2003,2 workstation pcs using windows7 & Vista 32 that connect together by means of a 16 port switch. All are working & talking to each other fine except the Snap....
Now when i try to connect the Snap Server 18000 (using the switch or directly to the Application server) it is not detected, all cables are working and leds are indicating no problems.

At first the snap refused to find anything installed until i turned off the "pxe boot" option in the bios, now it discovers a "kernel" i believe that means its found a linux os,right? Now at boot it displays:

"This device cannot be managed via the video/kbd/mouse interface.
The video display output is now disabled.
You may access the management functions from your web browser."

Well i cant access anything on the snap using my web browser, because the snap isnt detected from any other pc!
I cant even access the command line on the snap because the keyboard will not work.
I've tried installing "iscsi" on my servers, and installing adaptecs "snap server manager" to access remotely but neither detect the snap.I have even tried typing in the IP code displayed on the front of the snap itself directly into the browser with a desperate hope to access/detect it,with no success.

Help.......Please...
From a total linux newbie on the verge of a total brain explosion!!!

Partion help on XP-Ubuntu dual-boot

I recently dual-booted Ubuntu (v9.04) on my XP computer. When it installed, it made a partion on my hard drive, but didn't give itself a lot of wiggle room. It has 6mb of free space on that partion. My XP paartion has nearly 30 GB of free space. Since I don't have much room on the Ubuntu partion, what can I do on the Windows side to turn some Windows space into Ubuntu space?

Here is a screenshot of a partion manager:

I think that other #1 is the Ubuntu partion, but I can't edit the "other" partions.

Boot loader help

Last night I installed XP, then Windows 7, then Ubuntu. I thought this was the best way, however, when I start windows via 'other OSes' in Grub, I am lead to a new Windows boot loader that allows me to choose 7 or 'Older version of Windows'

What I would like to do is not use Grub if possible. Grub takes too long to load IMO, and I would like to automatically boot to W7 with an option to go to XP and Ubuntu. Thus, I would like to boot to the Windows loader and have an option to run Ubuntu. Is there a way that I can do this?

I have Ubuntu's grub/menu.lst open and could change the default number to '6' or whatever, but that seems like a tedious workaround and, honestly, I want to see how quickly W7 can actually boot up

Any and all help would be appreciated. As I continue my venture into linux, I realize that I am somewhat a noob, but am curious and determined.

Thanks!

New HD problems (Fdisk)

I recently purchased a new HD for a toshiba laptop. In all respects besides size (GB) the two are the same. I backed up the old drive completely (windows and all) using Linux (CD boot) and an external. After inserting the new HD and booting up in Back Track 3 (from CD) the new drive did not appear mounted. The drive is physically connected, as I found out with
>fdisk /dev/hda

Then it went through my mind that the drive was not formatted, so I proceeded to format the new HD with the end result of

Disk /dev/hda: 160.0 GB, 160041885696 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 19457 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hda1 * 1 19457 156288321 7 HPFS/NTFS

The above was then written to the disk using "w"

After doing all of this the disk refuses to mount (I used >mount /dev/hda and >mount /dev/hda1 with no success.) Rebooting in linux did not fix this.

So I am stuck, I cannot copy my backup of the original HD onto the new drive because it will not mount.

Rock External Hard Drive 400GB Won't Format

I bought a Rock External Hard Drive 400GB (SATA) some time ago for home recording. When I set the drive up, my computer recognizes it, starts the formatting process, but never finishes. It takes a while and has a quiet clicking sound during the formatting process, which makes me think it's doing something, but right at the end an error comes up that just says it's unable to format drive. I've looked for information on the maker, but it's hard to find anything. The specs are:

-USB 2.0 & USB 1.1 Compatible
-USB Cable & 100v - 240v Adapter Included
-Supports MAC OS 8.6+ and Windows 98 SE, ME, 2000, XP, & Vista

The Drive Parameters are:
7200 RPM
ATA 300
16MB BUF

5VDC
12VDC

A computer friend of mine suggested trying a SATA/IDE Converter, but that might not change anything. Any suggestions? Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks!!
