By using your forum I was able to get rid of W32.Destophijack, but spybot still finds smitfraud.C. Here is a log file ran just minutes ago.
Does smitfraud actually relate to "fraud" attemps because my wife just found out someone has been using her SS number to open new cell phone accounts!! Sorry, I didn't get to this earlier: daughter's birthday.
Please download CleanUp! - Download - HomePage Don't run it yet. There are quite a few programs available that offer protection features to help keep a computer from getting infected. While this is normally a helpful feature, it can keep a victim from making the changes necessary to clean their comptuer. Please read the following and uninstall or disable those that apply to your machine. These programs need to be uninstalled AdWatch These programs can just be disabled Microsoft Antispyware TeaTimer SpySweeper Win Patrol Spyware Guard PSGuard Pestpatrol Regrun Diamonds Process controller You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure. Please save Hijack This in a permanent folder (i.e. C:\HJT). This ensures backups are saved and accessible. Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked. Reboot your PC. If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, and let us know how your system's working. Thanks a ton for the ffort so far. Here is the latest log after doing the suggested. I browsed the link to the smitfraud/spybot topic, but some of it I did not get, but will read more detailed.
Here is the latest log after removing the ones you told me to check, and I also deleted the ALCXMNTR. The sytem seems slow on start up, (long time before it quits thinking, and becomes "usable"). After it catches up, it operates at normal speed. Oh yeah, when spybot does detect it, it detects "7 items of smitfraud C". Adaware does not detect anything with smitfraud.C. The log looks good. You did a great job. I believe the things Spybot found have to do with part of your security. How is it running? |

QUOTE(coachwife6 @ Aug 14 2005, 12:31 AM) I believe the things Spybot found have to do with part of your security. As in the computer is not secure, or the way I have it configured. Sorry, just not very knowledgeable on the security issue. I take that as how secure my computer is type of thing. |

I have searched other expert's opinions on the findings by spybot just to confirm my suspicions.
I believe they are false-positives. Here is what flrman1 said about those entries: QUOTE Those are false positives. Spybot is detecting the sites put in your Restricted Zone place there either by MS Antispyware or SpywareBlaster. I thought that bug had been fixed in Spybot. I think there was a thread here somewhere about this issue. I'll see if i can find it. http://forums.techguy.org/showthread.php?t...19&page=2&pp=15 |

Thanks.
You are clean. Here are some suggestions to keep you on the right path. The following is a list of tools and utilities that I like to suggest to people. This list is full of great tools and utilities to help you understand how you got infected and how to keep from getting infected again.
