java problems

i have been trying to donwload java and java2 and my computer stops half way through firts i got notepad saying

after that i googled it and found a forum whwre i read just download both again i removed and download it again now i cant pleas help i know the drill ready 2 pay through pay pal

Hello and welcome to Geeks to Go.

Uninstall all versions of Java that you currently have on your computer.

Before we make any changes, please create a system restore point by going to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore. Create a restore point for today.

Next, download Dial-a-fix from http://fileforum.bet...ll/1131569373/2

When you download it, double-click on it to extract all of its files. Then open the folder it creates. Double-click on the file called Dial-a-fix.

At the top, check the two items called Install Windows Script Host and Install VB6 runtime. Then click on the button at the bottom that says GO.

Now, go to the following site to download Java: http://www.java.com/...load/manual.jsp

When you download it, do the Online Installation. Follow the onscreen instructions.

After you download dial-a-fix, double-click on it. That will extract the folder and all of its files.

but i cant find the folder i dint make a shortcut or go to programs

After you download it and double-click on it, it extracts the folder to the same location as the file that you downloaded. If you still can't find it, go to Start > Search (or Find) and do a search for "dial-a-fix".

If you still can't find it after that, skip it and try the rest of my instructions (uninstalling current java and installing new one) and we'll see what happens.

no error message nothing just i donwloaded it then push run disaspears nothing happens

You created a restore point, right? Cuz we're about to get a little messy :tazz:

Start dial-a-fix again, this time put a check in the section that says "Fix Windows Installer". Make sure all the boxes in that section are checked. Then click on Go

After it is done, restart your computer and try downloading Java again. If it fails again, download the Offline version and install from that one instead.
