just set up a router and have my laptop wireless, now the question of secureing the network. what do I do, please advise

secure it how? as in you don't want people stealing your wireless connection? the best way to do that is with mac address filtering..

well....what that means is that anyone can use your wireless connection...not neccessarily that they can or can't see what you do on the internet.....to secure your wireless signal from unauthorised use then read the manual about setting up mac address filtering
