i recently had to reformat my computer, no problem since except for one little annoyance.

upon pushing the on/off button.......i get a screen giving me two options for starting my operating system. both are "windows xp home edition". it doesn't matter which one i select, they both work and it will automatically start the first one if i don't select one within 30 seconds.

running through your site a couple of weeks ago i ran across a recommendation that someone had given someone else here on your site and i tried it and i momentarily ended up on a screen where there were two line saying the same thing and i think that was where i needed to be to delete the second line. but damned if i can find that again.

am i rambling or is there help out there?

thank you in advance for your help.

Hi,

This is in your boot.ini file. There are a few ways of getting to this, the easiest way (in my view) is to go to start> run and type msconfig, then hit enter. Select the boot.ini tab and delete the line that refers to the OS you no longer want (if you're not sure which to delete, try renaming 1, then select the other when you boot and delete the renamed one).

Hope this helps
