I am in TX, which is 2 hours later than NY. I will find a zip disk today, and will report back. Thank you!

I have not been able to get out and get a zip disk today, I am going to try tonight. I did go thru the DOS commands you listed, and the file is not found on the C: drive. I will let you know when I have the zip disk.

Thanks,
Christie

I realized that a working zipdrive on the broken computer wont do me much good because I dont have a zipdrive on my functioning computer, no way to get the .dll file onto a zip disk!

After much discussion with my husband, I discovered that he "reinstalled" the floppy drive on the broken computer. I popped off the case, and sure enough found that the ribbon cable was on backwards. We now have a working floppy drive, and my husband is making a Windows 98 bootdisk while at work today.

Thank you so much for your help and patience, I learned quite a bit, and found a wonderful forum. I appreciate your time. I already am a blood donor, but the next time I go give a pint, I will be thanking you.

OK
Put the floppy in and turn on the computer
Pick the option to start with cd support, when this runs it will rename your cd drive watch what it says.
put the cd in and copy the file as my previous post Number 14
Cheers
Peterm

The dll file that my husband brought home is still compressed, is this a problem? Also, he has the bootdisk data on the same disk as the dll file. Is this a problem? Not sure how to proceed..

Thanks,
Christie

The files have to be uncompressed.
They will both fit on a floppy when uncompresd.
With the file from Bootdisc he has to click on that the bootdisc icon
which will then tell him to put the floppy in the A: drive it will wipe all the data on a: then he has to uzip the dll file. Since you don't have access to a floppy do you have a friend with a floppy drive ? then you just have to copy the files to there desktop and uncompress them
